Terrazzo was originally created in Italy more than 500 years ago by Venetian workers searching for a way to use discarded marble remnants – making it one of the world’s first “green” flooring systems.
Their original premise was, in fact, quite modern: recycle, reuse.
Seeking to find a way to use discarded marble remnants, those craftsmen created a system that offers:
- Exceptional beauty
- Extreme design flexibility
- Durability to last the life of the building
All within the best practices of sustainable building. Long valued for its life-cycle characteristics, terrazzo can contribute to the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) credits for new construction.
