Terrazzo: Using Tax Dollars Wisely

St. Johns High School, St. Johns, MI

People like to know that their tax dollars are spent wisely. In the case of St. Johns High School in St. Johns, Mich., concerned citizens can simply observe how the school’s original terrazzo floors have remained as rich in color and crack-free as when they were first installed more than 40 years ago.

“Terrazzo is timeless,” said John Clark, owner of Clark Construction, the contractor on the project. Thousands of students have enjoyed these floors for decades, and they’ll continue to do so for decades to come.

Guido A. Binda and Associates was the architect of the new St. Johns High School in 1970. Grand Rapids Tile and Terrazzo installed the sand cushion terrazzo that today remains as resilient as ever.
